One Mom's Story
“When my daughter Reyana
was 18 months old, she fell in love with Nat Knows Bananas.
She immediately identified with ‘going shopping with
mommy’ and she does different actions on every page.
She names the pictures of groceries at the beginning of
the book and tells me which groceries are coming first
and last. Her favorite part is when Nat has to wait for
her bananas (my daughter loves bananas, too). She loves
to make her ‘Nat’ face, a sly little grin with
her eyes looking to the side, just like Nat makes when
she's eyeing those green bananas.
Now my daughter is almost
3 years old and we keep Nat Knows Bananas in the car so
she can look at it in her car seat. When her brother or
sister needs a good chuckle, they say, ‘Reyana, make
your Nat face!’ Reyana gives her little grin and
everyone laughs.
My son, who is learning to
tell time, also loves reading this book to his little sister
and telling her what time it is. It's a wonderful book
on many levels—most importantly, about teaching patience
to children and letting them know they aren't the only
ones who have to wait for the good things!”
